Finally, I'm person of the year 2006 ;)
23 Dec 2006EditThis person of the year 2006 issue of the time magazine— the largest one ever printed— has a nice cover with an reflective Mylar on it. It somehow pretends that we are not entering another bubble? Anyway, this question is just rhetorical and time will tell or at least google stock quote ;)
This issue of time magazine is a great christmas gift for everyone in the new digital democracy. But still, I prefer the person of the year mirror in The Big Lebowski.
Has anyone an idea where to get this mirror?
Merry Christmas and wonderful holidays from Wollzelle!

Fluxiom review in Page magazine
09 Oct 2006EditPage a professional magazine for creative media design, publishing and trends, reviewed our webservice Fluxiom in their current issue. Page is a leading design and publishing magazine in the german-speaking area.
“In addition to the smart features Fluxiom scores with an intuitive interface […] in practice Fluxiom helps to avoid cramped mailboxes […] and messenger services costs”—Page Magazine 11/2006 (p.64f)
It will be interesting if this has any effect on the geographical distribution of our customers. Right now only eight percent of our users are from german speaking countries (as of the October 1, 2006). In general over 80 percent of our customers are outside the EU.

Finally, decent fast food
22 Sep 2006EditVienna is known for coffee. And nice Wiener Schnitzels. But fast-food wise it’s really, really boring and dull. You get the usual american chains with their bland food, tasteless “weckerls” in the supermarket and you have the Würstelstände (which are perfect for late night after-drinking food intake, but you don’t want this during the day).
Well, not anymore. Enter Lena & Laurenz which borrows from the concepts of british sandwich chains. Take delicious and fresh hearty sandwiches, combine them with the best juices around and also have salads and soups ready. Add the best-ever coffee for the Viennese touch. Perfect.

Happy first birthday, script.aculo.us!
22 Jun 2006EditToday marks the first birthday of script.aculo.us, which was launched on June 22, 2005.
Since it’s humble beginnings as an effects add-on to Prototype and coming directly out of what we at wollzelle needed for fluxiom, it’s seen many uses on high- and not-so-high-level web sites, plus it’s covered in many articles all over the web and the blogosphere and all kinds of books.
Conservative estimates are that script.aculo.us has had more than a million downloads (counting the packages from the script.aculo.us download site, and the inclusions within frameworks, first and foremost Ruby on Rails).
script.aculo.us was an enormous success (it ranks #4 in the del.icio.us all-time popular sites!) and personally I’m very proud of it (and all the people that contributed to it!).
A big thanks at all the contributors— let’s see if we can make the second year as exciting as the first.
The Web is still changing.

Audible Ajax Episode 12
26 Jan 2006Edit“Some of the first “wow” moments were due to the effects created by Thomas Fuchs in his Script.aculo.us library that builds on top of Prototype. Many people didn’t realise that with one line of JavaScript code they could get such a nice effect to happen, and now ugly developer-created sites have a chance ;) We had the pleasure of interviewing Thomas, an we got to discuss his frameworks, and gain knowledge from his experience.” — www.ajaxian.com
